Our HVAC energy upgrade at the 101 South Hanley Bldg. in Clayton, Missouri, is generating an average 30 percent savings on monthly energy costs according to a study by the energy research and evaluation firm ADM.
We conducted eddy current, oil analysis and vibration testing on the building’s energy plant to detect flaws, assess overall condition and address owner concerns that the 29-year-old chillers were nearing the end of their life cycle.
Based on their predictive testing results, IFS upgraded two of the three chiller units with variable-frequency drive (VFD) starters and new chiller controllers. In addition to reducing energy costs, the upgrades helped extend the life cycle of the energy plant. The chillers are expected to provide another 10 to 15 years of reliable service with proper maintenance and service.
